Team Tiger is Salem Avenue's PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention & Supports) program
Our 2 main rules are RESPECT and RESPONSIBILITY. We define and teach students what respect and responsibility look like in all school settings. Students earn Tiger Tickets by following the school rules. Tiger Tickets can be used in a variety of ways both in the classroom and during school-wide activities. Other positive recognitions include:
- Pawsitive Referrals
- Student of the Month
- Marking Period Certificates
Using the PBIS framework, we also have a defined discipline policy. Students are given verbal warnings and redirected when behaviors do not meet expectations. If behaviors continue students may receive an Incident Slip. This documentation is a communication tool between the school and families and often include a phone call home. Discipline Referrals are used as needed. Referral data is reviewed monthly and program initiatives are created and adjusted, as needed.
Families play an important role in PBIS. Talk with your child about the school rules and review your expectations. Ask how many Tiger Tickets they have earned and what they did to earn them. If your child receives an Incident Slip or Disciple Referral, discuss the problem behavior and what better choices they could have made.
